What is Dendrology ?

Dendrology is a branch of science that examines trees and plants in broader forests and classifies them as taxinomics. As an industrial forestry discipline, dendrology tends to focus on defining economically beneficial woody plants and their taxonomic relationships. Dendrology, which is an academic field of study, considers all local and foreign woody plants in the region as the study area. There is no sharp boundary between plant taxonomy and dendrology. While botanical science includes all plants, dendrology concentrates more on woody plants. The term dendrology has been translated into Turkish as Tree Science.
